Four things decide which one fits: WebSocket support, archive and debug\/trace access, how rate limits are metered, and behavior under traffic peaks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Those four matter more on Arbitrum than on most chains because of its 250 ms blocks and its L1-aware gas model. This guide covers what sets Arbitrum apart, the criteria that matter, and a documented comparison of seven providers, including NOWNodes. Every provider fact below comes from that provider&#8217;s own documentation or from Arbitrum&#8217;s docs, and the comparison table carries the date it was checked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>NOWNodes<\/strong> offers an <strong>Arbitrum<\/strong> endpoint with <a href=\"https:\/\/nownodes.io\/nodes\/arbitrum-arb\">RPC API, Blockbook API, Blockbook WebSocket (WSS) and Debug API<\/a>. According to its product page, it targets 99.95% uptime, and paid plans have no predefined RPS limits. More detail is in the provider section below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"what-makes-arbitrum-different-from-ethereum-for-rpc-access\">What Makes Arbitrum Different From Ethereum for RPC Access?<\/h2>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Arbitrum speaks standard Ethereum JSON-RPC, so ethers.js, viem, Hardhat and Foundry work unchanged. The differences show up in timing, gas, and connection types.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Chain ID.<\/strong> Arbitrum One uses chain ID 42161; Arbitrum Nova uses 42170.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Block cadence.<\/strong> Arbitrum One produces a block every 250 ms, against roughly 12 seconds on Ethereum.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Gas estimation.<\/strong> Arbitrum&#8217;s docs describe a two-component fee model: L2 execution plus the cost of posting data to the parent chain. The user sees one fee, with the L1 cost &#8220;baked in.&#8221;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Estimate drift.<\/strong> Per the same docs, the <code>eth_estimateGas<\/code> result for a given operation may vary over time as parent-chain calldata prices move.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>No WebSocket on public endpoints.<\/strong> Arbitrum&#8217;s docs state that public RPCs do not provide WebSocket support.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The last point catches teams off guard. Anything that relies on <code>eth_subscribe<\/code> (live blocks, logs, pending transactions) needs a provider that offers WSS. Polling at 250 ms block speed burns request quota quickly.<\/p>\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"why-not-just-use-the-public-endpoint\">Why not just use the public endpoint?<\/h3>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Arbitrum&#8217;s documentation says the public RPC URL has <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.arbitrum.io\/arbitrum-essentials\/reference\/node-providers\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">no uptime, latency, or rate-limit guarantees<\/a> and recommends third-party providers for any application that depends on availability. It works for development and low-volume reads. Production traffic needs something with published limits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"who-needs-a-dedicated-arbitrum-provider\">Who Needs a Dedicated Arbitrum Provider?<\/h2>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Any application whose users notice downtime. Typical cases:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>DeFi front ends<\/strong> that read pool state on every page load.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Wallets<\/strong> that fetch balances, estimate gas and broadcast transactions.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Bots and searchers<\/strong> that react to new blocks within a few hundred milliseconds.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Indexers and analytics pipelines<\/strong> that need historical state and traces.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Speed is the reason fast blocks matter to these teams. Offchain Labs co-founder Ed Felten wrote on the Arbitrum Research forum that <a href=\"https:\/\/research.arbitrum.io\/t\/the-power-of-faster-blocks\/9609\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">&#8220;Arbitrum&#8217;s 250 millisecond block time leads to 65% lower arbitrage loss compared to a 2 second block time&#8221;<\/a> under a standard LVR model. The same speed that helps liquidity providers puts pressure on infrastructure: the endpoint has to keep up with a chain that moves four times a second.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For scale, L2BEAT <a href=\"https:\/\/l2beat.com\/layer2s\/projects\/arbitrum\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">lists Arbitrum One&#8217;s total value secured at $11.80 billion<\/a> (figure retrieved Sept 28, 2026; it changes daily). Chainstack, for example, <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.chainstack.com\/docs\/request-units\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">bills one request unit per full-node call and two for archive, debug and trace<\/a>, while Alchemy and QuickNode use compute-unit and credit systems. Model your own method mix before comparing sticker prices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Rate-limit model.<\/strong> Infura&#8217;s plans use <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.infura.io\/get-started\/pricing\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">daily credit quotas plus a per-second credit limit<\/a>, and its docs note that WebSocket connections are severed when the daily limit is reached.
