If any transaction in the bundle fails, none of them land. That guarantee is what makes bundles useful for trading, arbitrage, and any action that only works when several steps happen in exactly the right sequence.

Bundles are built and submitted through infrastructure from Jito Labs, the team behind the most widely used MEV tooling on Solana. This guide explains what bundles do, how tips get them included, and the steps to send one yourself.

What Is a Bundle on Solana?

A bundle is an ordered list of signed transactions that a block producer either includes in full, in sequence, or not at all. No other transactions get inserted between them, and all of them land in the same slot. A single Solana transaction gives you none of that: it can land late, land out of order relative to someone else’s transaction, or fail on its own.

The atomic guarantee is the whole point. Say you spot a price gap and want to buy a token on one venue and sell it on another in the same instant. As two separate transactions, the second leg might fail after the first one already executed, leaving you holding the position. As a bundle, if the sell leg can’t execute, the buy leg never commits either.

A Jito bundle currently holds a maximum of five transactions. That cap keeps bundles small enough to schedule quickly, which matters on a chain that produces a new slot roughly every 400 milliseconds.

Why Bundles Exist: Ordering and MEV on Solana

Solana has no public mempool in the way Ethereum does. There is no shared waiting room where pending transactions sit before inclusion. Transactions are forwarded straight to the current leader, the validator producing the next block, and the leader decides how to order them.

That design creates a problem for anything time-sensitive or multi-step. Ordering is not guaranteed for ordinary transactions, and profitable actions can be observed and copied. This is where MEV comes in: maximal extractable value, the profit a block producer or searcher can capture by choosing which transactions to include, exclude, or reorder.

Here’s why bundles help. They bolt three guarantees onto a set of transactions at once: atomic execution, a fixed internal order, and private submission that never touches a public feed. A searcher can express a complete strategy, for example a liquidation followed by a swap, and know the sequence will either run as written or not at all.

Private submission became the default for a concrete reason. In 2024, Jito Labs turned off its public mempool after a sharp rise in sandwich attacks, where bots wrapped a victim’s trade to profit from the price move it caused, as reported by The Block. Since then, bundles go directly and privately to Jito’s block engine rather than through any public stream.

Who Uses Bundles

Bundles are a tool for anyone who needs control over execution rather than a best-effort send. The main users fall into a few groups:

MEV searchers running arbitrage or liquidations, where a strategy only works if several transactions execute in one atomic unit.

Traders and sniper bots competing to be first into a new token launch, where ordering and inclusion decide whether a trade is worth making.

Protocols and dApps that need a multi-step action, such as a swap plus a deposit, to succeed or revert as a whole.

Backends and market makers that want to protect a sequence of transactions from being front-run or interleaved.

If a workflow is a single, order-independent transaction, it does not need a bundle. The value shows up the moment execution depends on sequence, atomicity, or beating other participants to inclusion.

How Tips Work, and How They Differ From Priority Fees

A bundle on its own does not get prioritized. To be considered, it must include a tip: a plain SOL transfer to one of Jito’s tip accounts, usually placed in the first or last transaction of the bundle. The tip is a bid for inclusion, and because the bundle is atomic, you only pay it when the bundle actually lands. A bundle that does not land costs you nothing in tips.

The minimum tip is 1,000 lamports, which is 0.000001 SOL. In practice you bid well above the floor during congestion. Jito publishes recent tip percentiles through a tip floor endpoint so you can size a competitive bid, and the current list of tip accounts is returned by the
getTipAccounts
method rather than hardcoded, since it can change.

Tips are not the same as Solana priority fees, and the two serve different jobs:

Jito tip

Solana priority fee

Where it goes

A Jito tip account, routed to the block-producing validator

The leader, via a compute-unit price on the transaction

What it buys

Inclusion and ordering of the whole bundle through Jito

Higher priority for a single transaction in the leader’s scheduler

When you pay

Only if the bundle lands

On inclusion

How you set it

A bid against Jito’s tip floor

Compute-unit price multiplied by the compute-unit limit

Many bots set both: a tip to get the bundle handled by Jito, and a priority fee on the transactions inside it. You can read more on the fee side in the official Solana documentation.

How to Send a Bundle Through the Block Engine

Sending a bundle is a short pipeline. Two of the steps are ordinary Solana RPC calls, and the submission step points at Jito’s block engine instead of a normal node.

Build the transactions. Assemble up to five transactions using a recent blockhash and current on-chain state. Reading that state requires a Solana RPC endpoint.

Add a tip. Include a SOL transfer to one of Jito’s tip accounts (fetch them with
getTipAccounts
), sized against the tip floor. Place it in the first or last transaction.

Sign and encode. Sign every transaction and base64-encode each one.

Submit the bundle. Send the array with
sendBundle
to a regional block engine endpoint. Jito runs these in several locations, such as Amsterdam, Frankfurt, New York, Tokyo, and Salt Lake City, so pick the one closest to you to cut latency.

Track inclusion. Poll
getInflightBundleStatuses
and
getBundleStatuses
to see whether the bundle landed or was dropped.

Jito provides SDKs for TypeScript, Python, and Rust, or you can call the JSON-RPC methods directly. If you only need to push a single transaction, Jito also exposes a
sendTransaction
method that treats it like a one-transaction bundle and still expects a tip.

Steps 1 and 5 are where a reliable data layer matters. Teams that would rather not run and sync their own Solana node can use an RPC provider such as NOWNodes for the read-and-broadcast side, then send the bundle to Jito’s block engine. For bots that react to on-chain events, NOWNodes also offers Solana gRPC streaming with processed, confirmed, and finalized commitment levels, so you can watch slots and accounts without constant polling.

Trade-offs and Limits to Know

Bundles solve real problems, but they are not a guaranteed fast lane. Keep the following in mind before relying on them:

Five transactions per bundle. Larger multi-step strategies have to be split or redesigned to fit the cap.

A tip is a bid, not a promise. If a competing bundle bids higher, or the slot’s leader is not routing through Jito for that block, yours may not land.

No partial execution. A bundle that fails to land simply does not execute. That protects you from half-finished sequences, but it also means a dropped bundle is wasted effort you have to resubmit.

Latency and freshness. Submit to the nearest region, and keep blockhash and state current. Stale inputs are a common reason bundles get dropped.

Off-chain trust for that slot. Private submission reduces front-running exposure, but you are relying on Jito’s block engine to handle the bundle rather than a public, on-chain process.

What BAM Changes

Jito’s block-building model is being upgraded through BAM, the Block Assembly Marketplace, which is now live on Solana mainnet. BAM splits block building into a scheduler and a set of plugins and adds preconfirmations, early signals about whether a transaction will be included. According to SolanaCompass, BAM preconfirmations cover around 34% of network stake, and Blockworks reported its mainnet launch amid growing competition in Solana block building.

For most builders, the bundle-and-tip interface stays the same. BAM mainly changes how blocks are assembled behind the scenes and aims for more verifiable, programmable ordering. It is worth tracking if you care about where transaction ordering on Solana is heading, but it does not replace what you already do to send a bundle today.

Conclusion

Jito bundles buy you three things a single Solana transaction cannot: atomic execution, a fixed order, and private submission. The tip is your bid for inclusion, and the atomic design means you pay it only when the bundle lands. Keep the five-transaction cap and the moving tip floor in view, and treat inclusion as competitive rather than guaranteed.

The bundle itself is only part of the picture. It still has to be built from current chain state and tracked after submission, which is standard RPC work. Point that read-and-broadcast layer at dependable Solana infrastructure, send the bundle to Jito’s block engine, and the strategy inside it runs exactly as written, or not at all.

FAQ

Is Jito the Same as JitoSOL?

No. JitoSOL is Jito’s liquid staking token: you stake SOL and receive a tradable receipt that earns staking and MEV rewards. Bundles are a separate transaction tool. They come from the same ecosystem but solve different problems.

Is Jito-Solana the Same as a Jito Bundle?

No. Jito-Solana is a validator client, the software a validator runs to produce blocks with Jito’s MEV features enabled. A bundle is what a searcher or trader submits to that infrastructure. One is run by validators; the other is used by the people sending transactions.

Do Jito Bundles Cost Anything?

The SDKs and block engine access are free to use. You pay the tip, at least 1,000 lamports, plus the normal Solana network fees on the transactions inside the bundle, and the tip is only charged when the bundle lands.

What Happens if My Bundle Doesn’t Land?

It simply does not execute, and you are not charged the tip. The usual response is to resubmit with a higher tip or a fresher blockhash, since inclusion depends on how your bid compares to competing bundles.

Can a Jito Bundle Be Front-Run?

Bundles go to Jito’s block engine, not a public mempool, so there is no public pending-transaction feed for bots to copy. Inclusion still comes down to your tip relative to other bundles competing for the same slot.

A Jito bundle is a group of up to five Solana transactions that execute together, in a fixed order, as all-or-nothing.
