Zcoin is a decentralized digital cryptocurrency with a focus on anonymity and privacy. It is based on the Zerocoin protocol. The cryptographic protocol was supposed to be an extension for Bitcoin and allow completely anonymous transactions. Alas, it was not possible to reach a consensus on implementation. As a result, in September 2016, it was implemented as a separate fully-functional cryptocurrency – Zcoin.
The project is based on zero-knowledge proof or zero-knowledge proof. This is a protocol that allows one of the parties to the interaction to verify the correctness of the statement without information from the second participant in the process. Users can send and receive coins, without having to reveal specific coins that belong to them.
